Hearing Aid Dispensing & Fitting

At the time of the hearing aid fitting and orientation session, Dr. Papel will program the devices using prescriptive algorithms. She will utilize LIVE SPEECH MAPPING as a real ear measure to ensure that the hearing aids are programmed to provide ideal benefit for the patient.

At this time, the patient is instructed in the care and use of the hearing aids, such as insertion and removal, battery changes or use of a charger, and general cleaning of the devices. Set up with the patient’s cell phone or tablet may also be completed at this time. It is a good idea to bring a family member or close friend to this appointment to provide support for the patient.

The hearing aid fitting appointment is only a starting place; any changes to the programming may be completed at follow up appointments as the patient adjusts to improvement in one’s hearing. Attitude is an important component to success with hearing aids. Hearing aid studies have shown that people with a positive attitude do better with hearing aids. If a patient and their family and friends approach the hearing aid experience with a positive outlook the patient will have a much better listening experience.
